Hello Everyone,
Here is my trip report from Friday Jan 2 to Sat Feb 5th.
EHAS App – submitted for both my wife and I. She was approved almost immediately. Mine took a few hours. We have a Johnson and Johnson vaccine with a Pfizer booster.
United Travel Ready – Again, wife was approved almost immediately, mine took a few hours. Exactly the same info.
Flight Newark – SXM
-8am flight, left our house in CT at 3am, got to EWR about 5.30. Parked at the Parking spot which was easy. I recommend using their app.
- Flight was 100% full, arrived on time about 2.30.
- We sat in row 15 on a 737, we ended up just about last on the first bus.
- Which means we were 2-3 in line at immigration. Which was empty except for our flight, through EHAS check and Immigration. We were at the car rental shuttle in about 35 minutes from the bus to car rental shuttle.
Car Rental – Rented at Empress Car rental, it was 400$ for 8 days, including all the insurance. The VW (forget the model) was a little beat up. But that was ok with me. We drove through Phillipsburg and we were at our Airbnb in about 40 minutes.
Airbnb – Here is the link https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/46850910
- Million dollar view at a great budget. Deck was surprising private enough for CO. The host also said most people do go nude.
- Location was just south of the village entrance. It looked like we would have direct access to the village, but the road was blocked with a very high fence. Great value, but it would be nicer to be in the village.
- Car was required to go to the beach and dinner in the village. Note – Gate at Kon Tiki closes at 7pm. So after dinner we would need to drive out the main entrance of the village.
Everyday was pretty much the same. We are pretty lazy on vacation, I don’t really like to drive. Plus if you can go to Club O everyday, not much of a reason to go anywhere else.
- I would put our towels out on the chairs at Club O about 8am and run the beach
- We would make a lunch from cold cuts from the market in the village or left overs
- Cedric and his crew are always super nice.
- Club O beach, I attached some pictures. Very surprising how much smaller the beach is. The sand used to go all the way infront of Paypos.
- Friday-Thursday- Perfect beach days
- Friday-Saturday – The wind really picked up with some rain, but still beach days. Note, there was no seaweed before the last two days. Once the wind came it really brought in the seaweed which you can see from the pictures.
Food –
- We did make lunches most days, but did have east the Perch twice. They have a great Burger
- Le Piment – Was just as great as of 3 years ago. We ate here 3 times, pizza’s are really good
- L’Atelier – was perhaps top 5 dinners of my life. Expensive but worth it as a treat on vacation
Homeward bound.
- We used the Binax tests, with the Iphone it could be a little annoying. Make sure your browser has permission to use mic and video. We had the negative letter in our emails seconds after it was done.
- The airport was absolutely crazy, pic attached.
- Upgraded to first class, took a while through immigration at EWR.
- Car battery was dead, at it was 15 degrees out. Got a jump from the parking spot manager.
- Got home about 2am

Thanks for the report and the pictures. That view is really something!! And the picture from the airport is the poster child for why not to travel on a Saturday!! Glad the trip turned out well.

Thanks for the report! We are headed down in April, staying in Orient Village, and L'Atelier is on my list of must eats.

Awesome photos. We did enjoy two club O days. After the first day we hit the roadblock we waited to go over once more.
