I have used the Verifly app several times but now have a question regarding our trip to the island next week. On this trip I purchased one ticket using FF miles and paid for one ticket therefore we have two record locators. The app asks the record locator. I know I can add a companion but if the companion has a separate record locator will that cause issues like being able to check in online or any other issues? Since we do carry on only it would be nice to check in online, get mobile boarding passes and head straight to security on at least the out going flight. I know PJIA is different. Any help is appreciated.

I got my answer from Verifly support. Hope this helps someone else.
Hi,
Thank you for contacting VeriFLY Support.
She should download the app and make an account herself.
Please note that only one email can be used per account.

OK, I've never used that app, as everyone says it's a real bear to use, but that makes sense. I would have thought each person would have had to have a separate account anyway, regardless of whether it's the same record locator. I guess that would be my question, if we do decide to use it and we have the same record locator, then it is required that it be on one account? Maybe I will look at it for June, but can't say I'm looking forward to having to use it.
As I understand it, the advantage in the US is that you are able to check in online? We will definitely have a bag to check, so we would have to stand in line for that anyway, I think. So, what does it get me?? Airport is Miami, unfortunately, again, thanks to my buddy Jet Blue cancelling our flight from FLL. Sigh, I was kind of looking forward to not having to deal with Miami..

Strange. Both my wife and I use the same email for all related bookings with AA and receive both notifications on separate advantage accounts with same email address.

If you are on the same record locator you can use the same verify account and just use the add a companion feature in the app. I know this works because I have done this when we are on the same record locator.

We also use the same email on our AA accounts but Verifly will not open a second account on a different device using the same email. It all good unless you have separate record locator numbers and need a separate Verifly account. I will let you know of my experience next week.

The advantage of Verify is all they wanted to see was our passport. All the info was already in the computer.
Before going to SXM, we had to wait for our EHAS approval until we could fill out the Verify form. Then we could get boarding passes.
Returning was just uploading the test results.
That's all I remember. LOL

We have separate email accounts for everything, so that is not any problem for us.
But again, is there any advantage to Verifly if you are going to check bags, other than checking in online? We have assigned seats, so not worried about that.

That's not the point. I don't care about checking in online, as it doesn't get me anything. If I have to stand in line anyway to check bags, isn't that the same line??

Sorry. Maybe someone can answer that better than I. At DFW you can check bags at a kiosk, tag them your self and drop them at a special window and avoid the check in lines if you are checked in online. I am not sure the procedure at other airports.

OK, the last I knew, there isn't a special line to drop bags at Miami. I will post another question about that here.

All I can add is that in February when we were leaving St Maarten you were sent to a different check in line which was much shorter. This was for AA.

SandS--OK, that's the first I've heard of that. Previously, everyone had said that in SXM it didn't matter if you had the Verifly app or not, you had to go to the same huge line. IF it makes a difference checking in, in SXM, then I will do it.

I can't say anything as we have always flown FC on AA to and from SXM and we go to the FC check in line which is usually only 4 or 5 people deep. Which is why we won't do Verifly.

I always travel FC as well, but using Verifly did shorten my time before getting in line. Others were having papers reviewed, etc. They saw my screen and just told me to go check my bags.

My wife and I have now flown to SXM twice and Europe twice during the past year. We do not use Verifly, and have never had a problem with our flights or waiting time. We upload our attestation forms online for return travel to the USA.

So, there is a separate line in SXM JUST for checking bags?

I don't remember seeing one if February. Seems like they just had the staff to verify test paperwork (2 people), two regular counter agents and one agent for first class.

So, there is a separate line in SXM JUST for checking bags? No, I didn't mean to suggest that. But I fly FC so there wasn't much of a line, if any, to check my bags.

We’ve used Verifly to travel to and from SXM and we’ve also traveled without it, as recently as two weeks ago. I’ve yet to see any advantage returning from SXM. One way or the other you still need to stand in the awful cattle call lines to check bags. I’ve never seen a separate line for Verifly. There is a Priority line for Business Class which is just as long and slow as the others. PJIA is a nightmare.

I agree there was no separate line for Verifly. In February, half way through the cattle call lines, there was a table set up where they checked your return to US documents. Using Verifly saved you the trouble of getting them out and having them reviewed. You just showed them your phone and continued on to the lines for the gate agents.

..which to me is no advantage at all. That's the way it was the last two times we went, and you didn't lose your place in line at all because of it.

Cripes! Post after post about standing in a line!
People, you're going on a vacation to a beautiful island, to eat, drink, lie in the sun. You're not standing in a bread line. You're not standing in line at a train station with your kids and your old Granny trying to escape a war zone!
Count your blessings for once.
And, yes, I just made this political, but seriously, do you have any real problems?

Amen! Obviously no one likes to stand in line for anything, but there are lines and then there are lines!

Our Verifly experience DFW-MIA-SXM. We uploaded our vaccination cards and completed the questionnaire. We received the green check mark of approval. We then were able to check in online and get mobile boarding passes. At DFW we went straight thru security and did not have to present any documents to anyone. We do carry on only but did see a AA kiosk that said if you were checking bags you could scan your boarding pass and the kiosk would print your luggage tags. It then sent you to a designated are to drop off your bags. At MIA we had to present our passports to board the plan. It was a very easy process. I will report our experience on the return trip next week. Hope this helps someone.
