We both tested negative this morning. One level of stress gone.

For sure! Safe travels home! Hope the weather cooperates. Which AA flight are you on?

Glad that stress is gone. I took a home test yesterday just for my own peace of mind. I'm going to use the proctored BinaxNOW test to get back home.
Separate but related: that Verifly app is so ridiculous. They want a QR code for vax proof and would not accept the QR code sent to me by Oregon Health Authority! Something about "we are working on getting more authorized codes." I had to send them a photo of the QR code which they reviewed manually and then approved. We'll see if the AA check-in clerks even want to see it when I check in tonight.

Linda--I have definitely been thinking about doing that myself, taking a test on my own, before leaving.
Let us know how it goes with that Verifly..

Let us know how it goes with that Verifly.. We both took tests before leaving for. SXM. We wanted no surprises, when we got there. It's stressful enough wondering if you are going to pass the test going home. I don't think the airlines want to see the papers, if you have everything in Verify. They mentioned to me that everything was there on our reservation.

Verifly is super easy but aggravating to set up, but once set up it is sooooo easy to use. One of the main points behind verifly is it is paperless and contactless (covid and all that stuff, ill just leave that there). With verifly there is NO reason to speak to anyone at American Airlines, period the end. So even if you have checked bags, just walk up to a kiosk, scan your QR code from AA that you received thru verifly, and then you have the option to just print your luggage tickets, affix them to your bags, roll them up to the end of the counter, they will take them from you with a smile, then proceed to security with absolutely NO conversation with any AA representatives at all. When you reach your boarding gate the agent will see that you received your tickets thru verifly and will call to up just to verify your passport, that is all! Super easy, just leave all that paperwork that everyone so enjoys printing out and lugging around everywhere (as everyone says its just for backup or peace of mind), its on your verifly app! Most importantly ALL your information is with AA, as a confident traveler. So just get the app, jump thru the hoops and you will thank yourself later, NO more talking to agents in long lines!

Well, except that I travel first class and like to have the orange "priority" tags on my luggage, which you cannot get from the kiosks.

We finally left today but wished we had just stayed another night in St maarten as flight was delayed and we missed our connection in Miami. AA put us up at the Hilton Garden Inn along with 48 in food vouchers. Now we are on same flight on Sunday leaving Miami at 7:47. Lost our FC seats too. Flamingo offered to let us stay in our room tonight if we didn't fly out. Should had done that but it is what it is.

Now THAT'S what I call drama. Getting Verifly running is nothing in comparison. Sorry for your delays.

When we boarded in sxm a woman was flying without her husband as he tested positive and her negative. She left him there and flew home without him. He has to stay in quarantine for 5 days then get retested. That's drama. AA accepted our test results even though they were 2 days old because of Fridays canceled flight.

Sorry you missed your connection, but I can't say I am surprised, considering you said you had 90 minutes or so. It used to be that anything under 90 minutes was not a legal connection. Bad way to end a vacation though.
I do feel sorry for that lady, having to leave the husband behind.

We originally had a 2 hour connection but that quickly shrunk with the delay leaving SXM and time in air rerouting around a storm cell. We breezed through customs but that wasn't enough and took forever before any checked bags started to come. By then flight was gone.

Sounds like there were a lot of people who missed their connections. The last couple of times we went through Miami, immigration took forever and the bags were there by the time we got there. Thankfully we don't have to make a connection there, as we just drive our car to Miami. But despite routinely fast service by the parking company, we almost never are in our car before an hour and a half from when we land. Usually it's about two hours.

Yes. Our flight from SXM had many of the same passengers in the rebooking line.

AA accepted our test results even though they were 2 days old because of Fridays canceled flight. That is good to know actually especially with all the delays and cancellations of late.

We were surprised when we returned home on Saturday that no one asked for any proof of negative Covid test. Is it usually the airline or immigration that asks for it?

Dont think they care when you get on plane and arrive in the USA. Think only the airline when you checking in cares about that stuff.

That is the airlines responsibility to check at check-in. Not customs and immigration job.

Going through customs was super fast with GE. Luggage took 40 minutes before any bags started to show up. Even the priority bags. Finally made it home. Escalators and elevators were not working in international arrival before customs.
