We have been to two Carrefours, the Super U in Marigot and the Maho Market and NO MINT to be found at any of them!! How the h*ll do I make a mojito without mint!
Rofl!! Love it. My solution? Drink wine and rum but not at the same time.
Hubby has been enjoying the rum this trip. He had three parrots on his shoulders today at Parrotte Ville. Proof enough that enough rum makes one a pirate.
FatCat--but I REALLY like a mojito on island.. Drinking some rum and 7 UP now, but just not the same without the mint. Limes were pretty meh, not much juice, but I was able to find them. Such problems...
Saba she has totally disappeared this afternoon. Very hazy this afternoon.
No doubt Carol. It was so cute. We head back Monday, boo, but I will post my epistle with pics when I get back to my 'puter. Just makes editing easier.
Fingers crossed on your hunt for mint. My garden at home is filled with it by now. It grows like a weed.
That would be a major problem as that is my wife's drink on the island as well as when we are at home. At home she puts mint in her purse just in case the restaurant doesn't have any
Ask any bartenders that you may encounter if they have mint and where you might get some. I too am a mojito drinker and would be unhappy if there was no mint available.I need to add it to my list and bring some with me in October. If you find some make a mint infused simple syrup and use it instead of sugar. You will need little to no mint in the drink.
erb--I think there is something going on specifically with mint, as everyplace we have been has had just about every other herb under the sun, but no mint.
We're headed toward Marigot today, was thinking maybe to try that Monoprix, as we've never been there before. I think it's something specific with mint, as every store I have gone to has had all other kinds of herbs..
Unfortunately this happened to us in Nev./21. Supply issues with boats from Miami. Did get mojitos on last few days of our trip. Will Bring my own this November
