The find of today was a quaint little restaurant Chez Ginnete in Marigot.
This place is a hole in a strip of places, almost easily missed if not for the sign. I don’t know the street name but the entrance is not far from the street side door to Tropicana restaurant.
6 inside tables and two street side tables one would almost miss except for the wonderful aroma of food . Inside has A/C. Ginette greeted us with a wide smile and welcome to sit. Menu is a chalkboard of choices such as fish, chicken, shrimps, octopus and other things I couldn’t translate.
We both chose Barr(?) Fish in a Passion Fruit sauce, served with rice, plantain, christophine, avocado, green salad. Barr is a white fish similar to sole. With 2 glasses of white wine and 1 bottle of water the bill was €43? The rate 1:1 and it just might have been the best meal so far.
A French couple near us started their meal with Accra’s, something like cod fish cakes, egg shaped. Their main course was the octopus. We didn’t have dessert but the chalkboard offered 3 choices.

Never heard of Chez Ginnette, but it looks like a place for us to try out. BTW, bar is bass, and, if I'm not mistaken, related to grouper in a taxonomic sense. The prices certainly look attractive, and they seem to have good reviews. Thanks for the info.
This fish was thinner than grouper and the skin softer. But whatever it was, it was delicious enough we might do a second visit in the same stay here, which is not usual for us.
