We will be in St. Maarten next week. Has anybody gone to the el Zifaro replacement which just open a couple of days ago? It is called Dinghy’s beach bar. They also own a place with the same name in US Virgin Islands.
We stopped in twice this week for a cocktail and swim. Friendly staff, nice location, good menu. Only had an app pf chips and salsa which was lovely, light and fresh. Still some training going on, but service was spot on. Menu is nice with lots of different options. A bit on the pricey side

It's so great to have people who live on the island comment on questions like this because you're able to check new places out when they first open! And I know you've tried lots of other local places so I always trust your viewpoints.

I agree with you. I've always valued their posts. Thank You.
Yes great news. We will be at Beachside Villas later this week. I'm thinking that the new Dinghy’s beach bar is right next door on the beach. Any additional info is appreciated.
In the past under ElZafiro management, on evenings I didn’t feel like cooking we’d head out for dinner ‘somewhere’ and before we thought about it we’d turn into EZ’s parking area because it was so very convenient.mDinners weren’t fancy but the location was lovely, the service was always good and the food was fine for us be it a salad or a full dinner. If the new restaurant is anywhere near what it once was we’ll be happy campers to have it up and running. Now, if only they’ll add breakfasts to the menu………
Respectfully,

They opened Monday, August 28. It was our last full day on island and we talked about going for lunch and enjoying the beach afterwards. For some reason, we didn't make it. Glad to see something nice going in there as it will be a convenient option for our Maho stay.
Thanks for the location info. We have been to El Zafiro a number of years ago but were not sure of the location relative to BSV. Definitely an easy walk even after dark (If they're open that late). The menu looks pretty good as well, love jerk chicken.
For me it’s a great location with great parking. The beach is always large so you are not cheek to cheek with your neighbor. El Zafiro’s problems were mediocre food and cruise ship crowds. Glad to hear the food is improved and hopefully they won’t do the cruise ship thing. The new owners have a successful place on St. Thomas so it’s not their first rodeo.
