As the wind blows with a wind chill of 7 degrees, I am writing my trip report.
Just got back two days ago from chartering out of Sunsail for 8 days. First let me say it has been almost 15 years since I was in the BVIs. I was very impressed on how friendly everyone ( except the wait staff at BEYC) was to out group. Since three of our group of six had never been to the BVIs before, we did the normal stops. Maybe beacause the time of year or the weather most anchorages were uncrowded. CGB 7 boats overnight, JVD 10 boats overnight. Ecxept for BEYC all the bars and resturants were quiet.
Some of the highlights;
Great fish at Pirate's bight,
Perfect Grouper at Marina Cay,
Beautiful sunset from Biras Creek,
Downwind wing and wing in 30 kts of breeze over the north side of Tortola.
Lobster at Myett's
dancing at Quito's to the smell of fresh cut lumber!!
fresh water showers in the rain,
Making great new friends with Debby and Vinny at Corsair's on JVD.
The artist at Trellis Bay
Spending the last night and day of the trip at Lambert's
Hamburgers at Fat Hog Bob's,
Low points of the trip:
shutting hatching in the middle of the night because of rain,
missing too many sunsets because of the rain,
BEYC,
St Thomas airport,
dragging the hook at Sandy Cay,
A special thank you to;
Biggie at Sunsail
Kevin at Marina Cay
Lennox at Biras Creek
Barbara at Fat Hog Bob's
Debby and Vinny at Corsair's
Wendall
Larry at Myett's
Again, I was impressed with how The BVIs have been able to remain clean, uncrowded development and friendly funny people. Unlike some of the other islands!
Also, thanks for all the help and information we were able to get from this website.
I'll be back soon, sooner then I orginally planned.
P.S. any job openings for a middle aged, licensed skipper, talented bartender and a great seastory teller?
