Last month, when we returned from Bali and Sydney to the US, we were not required to retrieve our checked baggage and go back through security at LAX. We were told that this is a program unique to American Airlines. I don't know if it's also unique to LAX, but it sure was nice! Has anyone experienced this at other US entry points?

It was not like that in early March when returning from SXM through CLT.

IDK, but we will find out in a couple months. It would be nice advancement in process.

More importantly, how bout a trip report from Bali and Sydney?

Could that be because Bali and Sidney had already cleared your checked bags through customs/security beforehand when originally checked?

A quick google search shows it is only on the AA flight from SYD to LAX. They plan to have add more airports in the future.

If it all depends on the screening process at the departing international airport don't look for SXM to be ready in the near future. Look how long it's taken just to get it up and running after Irma let alone the entry paperwork and website process.

A lot has happened in our lives during and after that trip, so not sure I'll get a trip report written. I'll try, but it'll take a while.

Thanks for doing the research for me!. We decided to check all of our bags going home, including our two larger rollaboards and our big checked bag, which had suffered wheel damage on the trip to Sydney. We thought we would have to pick them all up in Sydney and in LAX, and were thrilled that neither was required. The flights from Bali to New Bern, NC, are long enough without that added stress! It would be great if this program is expanded!

Thank you Carol. It's a long, and very personal, story, but we're managing.
