After 22 trips where we stayed in the Orient area, we decided to rent a villa overlooking Dawn Beach. We will likely drive to Orient Village or Grand Case for most dinners, but if anyone knows of great restaurants near Dawn Beach, I would love to hear about them. Has the restaurant at Captain Oliver's been rebuilt? Also, is there a bakery with delicious croissants in that area? Thank you for your help!!!

Sadly, Captain Oliver's in still in shambles.
In Oyster Pond there are 2 very good restaurants - BZH and Oasis. Both are at the bottom of the hill just after you cross over to the French side. As far as a baked goods, Bread & Butter is right next to Oasis and has a bakery and a very nice selection of other products. Plus excellent coffee! Several nights a week they also have freshly roasted whole chickens, but you must speak for one in advance.
And there is always the Big Fish just before the entrance to Oyster Bay Beach Resort.
Hopefully these options will save you a long drive for at least a few of your nights!

freedomfighter--when are you going??? Be advised that Dawn Beach is often inundated with sargassum, especially in the summer.

We're leaving in a couple of weeks. If Dawn has Sargassum, Orient probably will too. It's not a big problem. We love Friars, and our pool looks pretty good. https://t.vrbo.io/cV9M96jrATb

I will echo PrairieGirl and Harry. All good options. Morning pastries at Bread & Butter are fresh and tasty.
Although I didn't visit Friar's or Dawn, I was at Happy Bay both Monday and Tuesday this week, and there was zero sargassum there. None at all.

Thank you all. Looking forward to trying a few new restaurants! Glad to hear that Happy Bay was clear. That bodes well for Friars.

The then Westin Dawn beach had a GREAT restaurant, open to the public overlooking the pool and beach. I would imagine that Marriott has rebuilt it back to is high standards. It had a casino too!!! I just don't know who maintains the beach these days??? We loved Dawn beach and Ms. Bee's!!
Sand Gravity, got to love it!

Please go to L'Escale for breakfast or lunch. It is such a pretty setting and the food is delicious, fresh, and inexpensive.
