Hi Folks,
My wife and I have been doing land based STJ or VG trips for many years. Typically in May/June but due to schedules we are looking at going to STJ in mid September this year. I get that it's high hurricane season and travel insurance is a must. My question/questions:
On VG and the BVI in general many things close for the season around that time frame - how is STJ in terms of restaurants etc in mid-September?
Day Sails/Snorkel trips - same question as above - I know that many move their boats in the BVI but not sure on STJ.
Basically any insight/thoughts on STJ in September would be great.
Thanks!

You’ll find things on St. John pretty similar to Virgin Gorda during September, some places, restaurants, tour operators and other activities will be open and some will be closed. And, yes, some people move their boats or put them in dry dock and some don’t.

STJ is not shutdown in September and busier than most of the BVIs. The kids are in school and many restaurants stay open. Outside of tropical storms, the water clarity is great, the wind is light, and it can get pretty steamy. Coral Bay will be very quiet with Skinny Legs closed, but Surf Club Cantina and Sharky's will likely be open. For boat charters, you'll need to check with the operators. Some shelter in Hurricane Hole, some trailer their boats, many sail charters will be at Carriacou or Grenada.
