We are back from another week in the islands, spent mostly at what we now consider home (Anegada -- we commute to Houston to work.) Highlights of the trip: - Spending a weekend with Cele and Davide at Cow Wreck -- with Davide doing some cooking (of course).
- Being with our Cow Wreck family, and taking Lakecia, Janisha, and Treisha to Tortola on the ferry.
- Nancy's cousin Bill and his wife coming down from Pennsylvania, first-timers in the BVI. We took them to Smuggler's Cove, Trellis Bay, Cow Wreck, Coco Plum, Brandywine Bay, plus they spent a day at Cane Garden Bay and had dinner at Bananakeet. Not bad for first-timers!
- Meeting and hanging out with Elsa Peretti at Cow Wreck Beach. What a lady!
- Neptune's Treasure -- one of our two favorite places on Anegada.
- Visiting with Sue Wheatley and romping with Charlie.
- Meeting TTOL'ers Yank, Goozee, Northernsailor, and others at Cow Wreck.
- Belle cooking a special lunch for me at Cow Wreck: pig tails with dumplings and fresh Anegada pea soup.
- Making pastries for Belle.
- Being invited to Belle's family reunion in July. We will be there!
- Playing on the beach with Shaina and Ebony.
- Meeting lots of new friends at Cow Wreck.
- Conch ceviche, conch fritters, and lobster at Cow Wreck.
- Mahi-mahi at Neptune's (incredible!)
- Fish tacos and cheeseburgers at Smuggler's.
- Dinner at Brandywine Bay.
- Skillet mushrooms and ribs at Coco Plum.
- Cheeseburgers at the Jolly Roger.
- Completing the final bits of business relating to our Long Bay apartment (the purchasing ordeal took 20 months end-to-end).
Photos are at nwmangum.com/BVI2006-March. Photos include a morning watching pelican acrobatics, Cow Wreck (of course), and a wild cotton plant on the west end of Tortola. Did I mention Cow Wreck?
