near the moorings office, there is a small shop that rented pool noodles on our trip a couple years ago, they were $2ea. does anyone know if they're still there and the prices? I'd like to know if they're not renting noodles anymore so that we can rent them from someone else. Thanks.

Actually passed a "lost" pool float a couple of years ago sailing down from VG to JVD. Used the opportunity to do a MOB drill to recovered the float.
Good idea to keep them tied down while underway!

Anyone know if pool noodles are available for purchase from BoLo's or even Riteway?

Also, take a look around the charter base trash cans on arrival day too for stuff like this....there is usually always something useful for your trip that someone places next to a trash can on their way back home.

I have recovered quite a few of the closed cell foam pool floats over the years but the guy who taught me to rig a line and fish around them 1st deserves much thanks - many Mahi have been hauled out since I learned to 'fish anything floating'!

Our last trip we were walking on the dock at Sunsail and another kind sailor asked us if we would like some noodles. He just passed them on to us. Very nice.

LocalSailor - interesting..... in Costa Rica - deep sea fishing - that's exacly what the captain did.... searched out "anything floating" and circled around it a few times

Shop on the Sunsail dock rented at $4 wk, or buy for $5.00 for us summer of 2014. We brought em back. Did use them, and passed small line thru several and tied to the dingy trailing aft (while at rest of course!)

sorry, we aren't able to take the noodles from the pool, they're frozen. Maybe by June it'll start to thaw!

Anyone chartering with TMM thinking about renting things like pool noodles... check with TMM when you arrive. Everytime we've been there, they've had a big bin full of water toys that have been left by prior charterers. We've donated a few to the cause ourselves. We usually bring one or two dollar store inflatable rafts with us and leave them with the charter company when we turn the boat in.

I'm guessing with the size of the Moorings/Sunsail operataions, they throw everything left behind away or else they would simply get overwhelmed with the amount of stuff left behind.

Seriously, this float has 4 inflatable compartments that can be blown up with 2 or 3 breaths in each one. When deflated they weigh NOTHING and take up NO room, so they travel beautiful even in carry on. I never leave home without one if I'm going to be anywhere near water - and I'm known as the Imelda Marcos of water floats, so this is truly an endorsement.

We've got six of the Swimways spring loungers, but the noodles are more popular on our boat.
