I am chartering a Moorings 393PC near the end of May. There will be 6 of us the 2 grand kids are 8 & 10. Has anyone used this type cat before? What can you tell me about the boat. Cruise speed? We've chartered the Sunsail 384 and Moorings 3900 which is pretty much the sail version of that boat. Can't comment on speed as that clear is different.
The two times we've been on it, there were 2 of us and then 4 of us. Worked great for 4 with each couple having their own hull. With 2 of the 6 being kids, you should have plenty of space.
I find things are a little tight when working on meals..etc but you have plenty of room to spread out otherwise, especially with the flybridge. Cabins are comfortable too. Also plenty of fridge and freezer space.

I recall that it had 3 cabins, so you should do ok. I for one, will really be tuned to your comments after driving it as it is the one I'd like to charter next visit after having the larger 474. I will make one suggestion: Regardless of what the brochure says about top speed, you will probably find the engines governed to a somewhat lower rpm than a new boat would have. That said, remember that with a powercat, you pretty much point to where you want to go and shortly afterwards will arrive there. No worries about wind direction unless it is really blowing head on. So, try running your boat at 8 to 9 knots like we did with the 474. At the end of our trip, we used only about $330 worth of diesel including for the generator. The boat will run alot quieter and you will feel less propeller vibration. Push it up to max or close to max cruise and you will be looking at a lot more fuel. And none of the distances in the BVI are particularly long; 25 miles max. Keep us posted!

If its an owners layout, then it would have 3 cabins with the starboard hull being the owners hull.

I own a 393PCX in The Moorings fleet on Tortola which has twin 150 Volvo's. Your cruising speed will be about 11-12 knots. If you have the 393PC with the twin 110 Yanmars your cruising speed will be about 8-9 knots as previously stated. We usually put the young kids in the forward port side cabin because of the forepeak. The starboard side is the owner's cabin with a very large head compartment with a large shower. The port side has a wet head. You will have plenty of room on the vessel with 6 people on board....the fly bridge is great.

We chartered a 34' PDQ in the PNW a few years back (2 cabins, 4 people plenty of room. The charter company, San Juan Yachting, has the owners add notes about their boat - I wish all companies did this. Our owner had worked out a slow cruise and a fast cruise schedule. Slow cruise was 7 knots at 1.5 gph and fast cruise was 14 knots at 4 gph. This was with twin 100 hp Yanmars. The owner said the boat would tend to squat and plow between those speeds and it did. Although you'll have to interpolate, this might be something to keep in the back of your mind. And yes, you will love that fly bridge!

The boat will be wonderful! We have chartered the 393PC and the 474PC many times. We are leaving in 3 days for a charter on 393PCX (maybe Boatboy's!) I will let you know upon our return how much the larger engines help but I imagine for the low cost to upgrade it will be well work it! I found the 393PC a little underpowered. With that said, don't push it. As stated above, run at a lower RPM to save fuel and make your ride so much more enjoyable. Also, the 393PC has a history of overheating if it is run hard. Take your time.....certainly no rush. As for space, you will have plenty. The lead on the starboard side is perfect! Just watch out....your guests will want to come over and use your shower! Handling......also quite good. It has relatively small rudders so your rudder control is not great. However, the props are so far apart you can make the boat do just about anything you want. Overall, the boat is perfect for a charter. You will not be disappointed!

Thanks for the input. I'll be content cruising around at 8 or 9 knots. I am more concerned about the ride with two young kids on board. We have a kayak and paddle board rented will it be a problem storing when not in use?
