Thanks in advance for the help. This forum was really helpful 5 years ago when we planned our 10th anniversary trip to Virgin Gorda. Now we are thinking about our 15th and would like to go back and take our kids (ages 11 and 9).
We would love to charter a catamaran for a week, but have never sailed on our own before. We are also a bit worried that my husband may get seasick. Has anyone heard of shorter charters? We could combine this with a few nights on VG and a few nights on STJ. If we like it we can always go back and do the full week. Thanks in advance!

Depending on budget, you have some options.

My suggestion: Get a 50+ ft. Catamaran with captain and chef. If there are worries about seasickness, plan your itinerary as follows and you'll be sound as a pound:

Day One.
Pick up at base. Sleep aboard. I used to recommend Voyage but I would no longer limit myself to them.

Day Two.
Quick sail over to Norman Island for lunch and snorkeling.
After lunch, motor over to Peter Island Resort and get a berth. Dinner ashore and possibly a spa appointment in the morning.

Day Three.
Beat or motor up to the Baths. Lunch and swim. Reach up to top of Virgin Gorda and make your way into the North Sound. Tie up at the dock at either Leverick, Bitter End, Biras or Saba Rock. Enjoy the resort amenities for a day or three. Being on the dock, you will have the feel and ease of a hotel without having to unpack.

Possibly make a day trip up to Anegada, returning to the docks in North Sound once again.

Final day, have the boat drop you at Beef Island before they return the boat to the base.

You could also add Scrub Island to the itinerary. Again, high end resort, walk on-walk off ease.

Easy Peasy

Have fun and Happy Anniversary
