The first photo is the second Shipwreck Restaurant that was a part of Mullet Bay Resort and was relocated and built there after the original version was destroyed, I think by a fire, in the early 80's, if my memory is in its on position tonight.

The second photo is most of Mullet Bay Beach area taken from the Cupecoy end of the beach and displays the shops, towel area and again, the Shipwreck Restaurant (basically the area where Rosies and DaLeos are today, and then up the beach towards the rocky promenade where the old Honeymoon Walk used to be before its demise in one of the many storms of the mid 90s.

They were outstanding, weren't they?! We also loved the Frigate and what at that time (and may still be through the present) was the only salad bar on the island. And how the waitstaff danced through the place hustling those dinners off the grill and to the tables. IMHO, the Frigate one-upped even the well noted Gourmet Restaurant at Mullet.

Ah Yes! I remember it well! We used to take a morning swim before breakfast and were tortured by the scent of frying bacon from the restaurant!!!!

Mmm, yes....the smell of bacon and sausage as you walked the beach.
Such a lovely breakfast. Omelette chef, fruits.

Kim has inspired my to find my old pics......now where are they?!

The Frigate was our favorite spot too. In the early days, we never rented a car so we spent many nights there. When Cheri's finally opened, my son was so happy that he could get a good old hotdog or hamburg for dinner. Thanks, Kim for posting these and bringing back memories.

The photos must have been taken prior to the dates you listed. The resort was destroyed by Luis in the fall of 1995.

yes I was wrong about 1995, it was after Luis, the resort was NOT completely destroyed. Buildings were still all there. Just resort closed. The second storm did more damage, but the building shells were still up as was the boardwalk in places. During the late 90's we were making two to three trips a year to the island. And the one picture my daughter was 4 or 5, so that would be 96-97
