skipjacks has the freshest seafood on the island. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/dine.gif" alt="" /> They may have specials- call them when you're on the island.

Lee's Roadside Grill, Greenhouse on Airport Rd, SkipJacks. Many of the restaurants in Grand Case offer Lobster although I don't think most are open for lunch. You can also get lobster at Captain Oliver's in Oyster Pond, L'Astroble(SP?) at the Esmeralda.

Waikiki Beach bar on Orient has a lobster buffet on Saturday's. Several of the beach bars on Orient offer lobster for lunch on their regular menu's.

Claude Mini-Club on the waterfront in Marigot has a Caribbean buffet dinner every Wednesday and Saturday, with lots of delicious food (all homemade), including all-you-can-eat lobster (grilled and cold). The buffet also include fish soup, french onion soup, grilled snapper, leg of lamb, pig roast, duck, chicken, prime rib, veggies, salads, cheeses, pies, cakes, tropical fruit salad, etc...
Buffet includes all you can drink house wine (very decent white, rose, and red).
Live entertainment.
The whole thing for $60 or $65 (don't remember exactly) per person, gratuity included.
It's packed so reservations are recommended.

Yes. Claude's is very good in a nice setting overlooking the Marigot bay. It's 49 euro pp and well worth it. They open at 7:30 for the Buffet.

Kakao on Orient has a great lobster salad, as well as whole live lobsters in a tank. We love having our main meal of the day there midday.

I agree. We will oftentimes have a late lunch/early dinner at Skipjacks. We have never been disapointed in their lobster.

If you are staying closer to Philipsburg, Antoine's lobster is 1st rate. Chesterfield's lobster (when they have it) is terrific. Greenhouse has lobster specials that you can check out.

Never been to Antoine's myself, but I thought they just have lobster thermidore. Do they have traditional just grilled or broiled lobster also?

They have 2 choices, thermidor and broiled. The menu says grillee in the title but underneath it says broiled.

Doug is correct - their grilled lobster menu offering is a little misconceiving as they definitely don't 'grill' the lobster, and in fact, don't even have a grill per se, so it's definitely broiled. Skipjack's and Lee's both do a great job if a grilled lobster is what you're looking for, and Lee's garlic butter basting sauce is yummy.

And if you're looking for a simply prepared but excellent grouper, I can absolutely vouch for Antoine's pan sauteed choice. Pierre does a great job on this traditional fish dinner, so much so, I've never been disappointed. And their lobster thermidor is incredibly delicious although on the pricier side, as are all their lobster options, but over 40+ years and a lot of thermidor dinners, I still think Antoine's by the Sea on Front Street has the very best we've ever had, on or off the island! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/dine.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/dine.gif" alt="" />

OK, thanks. I have only ever heard people rave about Antoine's thermadore, so wasn't sure.

I'm curious. Do most of you like whole lobster (or tail) or prepared some other way? I'm giving up on Thermidor and grilled. It just never meets my expectations. Stew Lobster, on the other hand, or prepared some other way is how I'll proceed.

Grilled, grilled and grilled. On occasion my wife will have lobster in a cream sauce over pasta but really prefers grilled.

I personally prefer a Maine lobster over a Caribbean one, but the Thermidor at Antoine's is excellent. Another way I enjoy it on the island is served cold in a salad. Kakao on Orient has an excellent one, as well as Aloha, also on Orient.

I'm sure you know that Caribbean lobster is not really lobster but crayfish aka langouste. It's sometimes called spiny lobster but because they don't have claws, calling them lobster is misleading.
Personally, I prefer langouste over Maine lobster because I don't really care for claw meat and the tail is my preferred piece. I like my langouste either thermidor or poached in a courbouillon and then served cold with mayonnaise and salad. Grilled lobster is ok but more often than none, restaurants overcook them and they're too dry for my taste.
At Claude Mini-Club, 80% of the patrons jump on the grilled ones and I always have lots of poached ones to chose from.
To each his own.
