After a bit of searching on TTOL I realize 'tipping' is kind of a hot-button topic around these parts, so I'll keep my question very specific. How much do you tip the person who delivers your groceries and/or liquor. We just placed a $600 grocery order with RiteWay; even a 10% ($60) tip seems kind of excessive. What's the collective TTOL thought on this matter?

I usually tip the delivery guy $20 and they seem pretty happy about it so I'd guess it's normal. Don't think it needs to be a % of your order.

This is just what I would do, not saying it's right. If the delivery person is super helpful and goes well out of their way and is on time, etc, I might tip $20-30. If pretty standard, but nice an helpful, $10-20. If they just show up and say "the stuff is in the truck", maybe $5-10 or no tip. I personally don't think it should be a percentage like at a restaurant.

Ok, I'll duck now. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Wink.gif" alt="" />

Agree. That's about what I do.

3rd time, don't have everything delivered. We get bulk stuff delivered, but like picking out our own produce, meats, chicken and seafood.

If you give it to them when they first get there, it seems to help everything overall.
