Hello! Long time reader-first time poster! We have a land based trip to St. John's this Christmas/New Year's week. We would like to do a day trip to Jost Van Dyke BVI on Sunday between the two holidays. My question is Inter Island ferry leaves Jost at 5:30 pm on the return trip, which they advertise a 45 minute trip, but the Cruz Bay US Customs office closes at 6:00pm, how does that work? Thanks in advance!

Customs will stay open and you'll have no problem checking in. Sunday is the best day to go with the later ferry departure. I recommend calling the day before to confirm their timing.

Ditto the above, the ferry has to dock at the Customs dock with all the passengers.
