We received a gift of a private day charter from my boss to celebrate a big birthday I have coming up and we booked a day sail to Anguilla with Private Yacht Charters in Oyster Pond. Question, what is an appropriate tip? Normally there is a captain and a mate but since we are just two people they gave us a discounted rate and we will be sailing with only a captain.

For private day sail charters I usually tip 10% to 15% of the charter cost. I base the amount on number of crew and whether or not the Captain is the boat owner or a hired hand.

Fletch is/ spot on in advice. But advise no less than $60.00 and buy lunch if not provided. Enjoy
