They posted this on Facebook with no explanation other than it was out of their control.

Sounds like it must be either equipment related or permit related.

Some of the comments referenced excessive noise from a party but nothing definitive.

To ME, that's good news. The idea that restaurants or bars can blast music at whatever decibels, whenever they want, is ridiculous.

edit--of course, their comment that it was "out of their control" is total BS, IF it was a noise complaint. I'm sure that would not have been the authorities' first action, to just close down the business. Obviously, if it was a noise complaint, they would have been warned, probably numerous times.

Carol, agreed, there is a gorgeous airbnb right next door - recently renovated , but our apartment was within 50 feet of Rainbow and they blared music all day long. The most annoying was often during the week the music was going to late at night and since we were right next door, we could see there were there were less than a half dozen people in the place. I feel very sorry for the owners of that building and the building next door , it really upset their guests, which in turn hurts their business.

If it was in fact a noise complaint that closed them down, good on the French authorities. Dutch authorities could take some lessons!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW! If they were shut downs for to much loud noise sorry for them being so rude but Great News for the area just trying to relax or sleep. Now hopefully the DUTCH SIDE police / authorities will take note and do the same, I could name a few but I think we all know who's blaring music late into then night. Tourism is very fragile business and nobody wants to stay next to someplace that has a rude neighbor and doses not respect the rights of people to sleep. Its easy...if you are going to open a late night business and you see hotels, guesthouse, Airbnb , homes etc don't open it there...Find another spot. Finally people are speaking up and Gov acting. Just DON'T DO IT. Simple.

Someone brought this up in another post. Anything new on this? Was it ever actually confirmed that they were shut down because of noise?

Being discussed elsewhere that is it a 30-day closure due to noise violations, take it for what it may or may not be worth.

I just wondered if the restaurant had ever confirmed that was the reason.

Carol, I will be there for a week in mid February and let you know, though if I knew last year that they would be closed in Feb of 2024 , i would have booked an Airbnb near there, it is one of the best areas of the beach , no rocks, easy in and out of the water. .

I don't know if he knows what he's talking about or not, but Jeff Berger's newsletter says that the issue at Rainbow was documentation for employees. If so, I guess when they reopen, one can once again expect ear splitting music at all hours.
