21/2/11 Monday
We headed off to St. Kitts after a breakfast of fresh baked cinnamon rolls and toast with honey under overcast skies, stopping for some snorkeling along the way. As we came into the harbor area we caught a small kingfish that would be our evening meal.

The dinner guest has arrived
We anchored just outside the breakwall and took the dingy to the marina. After we tied it off we found ourselves at the duty free shopping area by the cruise ship dock. Dan and Em went to clear us out while the rest of us did some shopping. The stores were selling all the usual tourist articles, so we picked up our shot glasses, refrigerator magnets, and tee shirts. The salespeople were making bargains on the already low priced merchandise so we got some good deals. Our primary mission, at least for Dan and I was to find some goat waters; however we were disappointed as everywhere we inquired told us it was something that you can only get on the weekends. We had to find a digicel office since Deb was having trouble with her cell phone; she somehow convinced them to replace it free of charge even though it was purchased in St. Lucia and the outlets are all independently owned. The next stop on the agenda was to get some lunch in us having failed in our earlier quest. The restaurants near the cruise ship dock were all the typical tourist places you find in such areas. Our tried and true method of finding good food at a reasonable price is to check out the tourist to local ratio in the various restaurants on the streets on the town proper, the less tourist the better we like it. We passed a food truck with a constant flow of local patrons but there was nowhere to sit so we pressed on. We ended up at a nice little place and had some chicken rotis and fresh juice. It seems in St. Kitts and Nevis the fresh juice isn’t serve in a glass but in reused water bottles. I had the sorrel, it was a little heavy on the cloves; Dan and Deb tried the ginger beer but that was way overloaded with almond essence. Kim was the lucky on e of the bunch this time, she chose her favorite, passion fruit, and you could smell it as soon as she unscrewed the top. After a little wander around we went back to the cruise ship dock area in an unsuccessful quest for wifi, however we did have some beers and drinks. I had been looking for the latest Vybz Kartel CD and asked at one of the duty free shops, the woman there said I would have to go to town to find it. She gave me directions, not to a store, but to a man that sells homemade copies out of the back of his van you; gotta love the Caribbean. Back on Skyelark we roasted the kingfish whole with lime, garlic and capers. Kim and Em are not much for fish so they finished off the last two strip steaks; the meal was accompanied by rice, green peas and oven roasted mixed veggies, a meal fit for kings if ever there was one. We had some nightcaps and listened to my new CD. I finished off the rum I had purchased in Dominica then we all went to bed to get ready for our long sail to St. Martin the next morning.
