Left on 11/21 for SXM & trip down was fine[Linked Image] and on time[Linked Image]. Rented from Hertz but was supposed to get an upgrade of a Terios SUV[Linked Image][Linked Image] but didn't have any so we ended up w/Subaru sedan 1 week old[Linked Image][Linked Image]. Proceeded to L'Hoste for 2 nights & checked in. Fred was at the front desk. Asked about the roleaway bed for the 2nd night for my sister-in-law & was told they do not have such a thing[Linked Image][Linked Image]. Showed her my instructions when making reservation[Linked Image] on the internet. We could have a room w/2 double beds[Linked Image] or another room and pay $100 instead of $30. So I said okay. All night I kept thinking about this and worrying myself for no reason. In the mean time out 1st night we had dinner at Sol E Luna. It was a nice dinner and the passion fruit flavored rum was delicious. 2nd day went to Karl at front desk & explained about the rollaway bed. He said no problem he would send it up right away . The beach in front of L'Hoste is great!!! The water was warm and life was good. The sandwich wraps next door at Bikini Beach are delicious, so I ordered one for my sis-in-law for her light night dinner. 2nd night had dinner at Turtle Pier. My Grilled snapper and half a lobster tail was delicious. Proceeded to Bliss for a drink and watch sis's plane come in 10:50pm. Bliss is really nice and so was the music. Picked up sis & returned to hotel. So we were a threesome for the rest of our stay. Third day went on Orient beach for the day then left to check into Royal Islander. Went to Saratoga for dinner and our meal was delicous. 4th day sister and husband sailed on the America's Cup Stars & Stripes. She was made captain and proceeded to get seasick. My husband loved it & would recommend it to anyone. . After lunch at Turle Pier, more beach time at RI. The waters were calm, clear & warm . That night had to go back to Bliss and have dinner. Their menu is small but what we had was very good. Bamboo Birney's was next door and that looked interesting too. 5th day more beach time and dinner at Pizza Pasta and stopped for a drink at Cheri's. The band they had was really good and funny to watch. 6th day went to Dawn Beach by Mrs. B's. New buildings down there, didn't recognize the place. For dinner decided to go to Marina Royale. Looked at the menus and decided that the places with a lot of people must be serving the good food. So we picked Chanticleer which is next to Jean DuPont. DuPont place was in darkness. This was out best meal. We all had lamb and it was wonderful. After that meal all others couldn't measure up. 7th day was market day in Marigot. Bought some jewelry and flavored rum, vodka. Stoley's vodka is $5.95!!! Check out their new indoor mall and their bathrooms!!!! Had dinner at Fish Pot but would not go back. The meal was okay. The menu was too American for SXM. 8th and last full day went back to Orient Beach and had dinner at Marios Bistro that night. Delicious!!! The Duck & that gravy is still yummy!!! 9th day took sis to airport to drop her off then back for some sun & beach than to airport for our flight. I still like L'Hoste & my husband thinks Sarah is "hot". The island is very green, and there were thousands of butterflies all over. It was beautiful!! The roads were not bad. The bridge construction didn't seem to slow us down. The only thing that happened was the night we went to Marina Royale, there was a man standing in the parking lot next to marina. He didn't look like he was all there and waved us down but we didn't stop and found a space near Zee Best instead. The colors of the ocean were just beautiful. Everywhere we went the people of SXM were very nice and accomodating. Life was good that week.
