Actually sail445, FIVE boats were destroyed in Puerto del Rey boatyard during hurricane Maria. Don Street wrote an article for the Caribbean Compass (March 2018) stating no boats were destroyed but that information came from Puerto del Rey Marina staff and not an actual inspection by Don. We have pictures of our friends boat, Ivory Star, with 3 jackstands penetrating the hull for a total loss. The small buildings blew apart in the boatyard and also caused considerable damage to several boats near those structures: Island Spirit had their mast heavily damaged and had to be shipped back to the US for repairs. Pictures of the docks in the marina showed several boats sunken at the docks as well right after the hurricane. So no place is safe from a hurricane when you are in the hurricane box during hurricane season. Just sayin'
