I just picked up a local vodafone sim card when i was just recently in Italy and swapped it with my home country sim card (Antigua). It worked a treat while i was there. I put 25 euros on it and still had a coupe of euros left on it. I used it for local calls, overseas calls to Antigua, USA and the UK. I found them available at every bureau de change I used.
