Since we stayed at L'Hoste in May, 2000, I thought I would update Carol's review somewhat. I can confirm most of what she described because we stayed in the same room -- the advantages of reading the TT archives is finding which room is the best.
View: Room 304 does give a wonderful view of the bay, but the trees have grown so high that one cannot really see the beach immediately in front of the hotel. Nevertheless, the view of the bay and the beach toward the north is, as Carol said, worth the extra cost.

Beach: The beach towels, umbrellas, and chairs are free to guests at the hotel. The service by the "beach boys" (lacking a better name for them), who provide these items as well a service from La Playa (its current name) restaurant/bar, is excellent. I know this sounds pretentious, but the service and atmosphere reminded us of Tahiti Beach in St. Tropez on the Cote D'Azur of France. The beach and water on Orient Bay, however, is superior. The location on the beach seems ideal to us. One could not ask for a better beach experience, in my book. Plus the food at La Playa is quite good.

Room: We liked our room very much -- except for a running battle with sugar ants.

Breakfast: We were very pleased with the free breakfast. Cereal, fruit, fresh croissants and baquettes, coffee, juices. Perfect for us. Things like bacon and eggs were extra.

Pool gets little use, excepts for some exercise classes and mothers with children. One reason is the construction a few meters away, right next door -- which was going on while we were there, but was not disturbing.

Edited by Administrator on 10/2/00 01:29 PM.
