Probably a lot of both. So far, we’ve never been land-locked staying at BSV and they’re very good at clearing the road by the runway ASAP but it happens so very much that it’s a given that It might happen at any time. We’ve been very lucky. Once while staying at Divi we lost power so decided to go to French side for breakfast to Marina Royal. We went via Maho and the road in front of SSBB was covered with sand and a bulldozer. French side had electricity at the time when Dutch side did not. We ended up parking near cemetery and when we returned to our car we had to both enter from passenger's side because the water was over the street. Cars parked facing water were in worse trouble, especially the jeep that was totally flooded. There's a hotel at the bend there and waves were coming up and through their lobby to the street.
