Update as of 6/16/13: the beach is open and much like it ever was. Exceptions: -The bathhouse/restrooms were open briefly but are now closed again due to poor drainage. No info on when they will reopen, meanwhile "enjoy" the Porti-Potties. - No permanent food or drink services are available in the entire park. Instead there are some food trucks that can sometimes be found in the parking lots. - The boardwalk through the woods from the parking lot is closed. The boardwalk to the beach is gone, replaced by Mobi-Mats although the total length is less that last year. - The beach area is somewhat reduced by several roped-off areas for the birds. The main casualty is the old volleyball court, although someone set up a temporary court last weekend. Rumor has it that some of the roped off area might be open at the end of the month. - I was told that last year a defibrillator and EMT medical person were stationed right on the beach but now they have been removed, "replaced" by an ambulance for the whole park, possibly parked miles away and without four-wheel drive. Some folks worry about the extra time it will take if help is needed.
