OK, we only have garbage pick up here in Florida one day a week, so we already are required to hold our garbage for a week anyway. Do folks there not have big garbage cans? Doesn't sound like a big deal to me.
Because we have to take our trash to the roadside dumpsters having BIG garbage cans is a problem. Too heavy to hoist and empty into a dumpster and the big cans don't fit in most peoples cars. Almost everyone takes a bag of garbage to a dumpster every time they leave the house and do not store it in cans at home. The roads are steep, many homes are not easily accessible for any kind of truck /home pickup, the dumpster system is not perfect but it is what we have.
