Sarasota County's North Lido Beach used to be a popular nude (clothing optional) beach, but being unclothed is now prohibited at all public beaches in both Manatee and Sarasota counties. It is rumored that several sandbars and smaller islands around the Intercoastal Waterway sometimes act as an impromptu clothing optional beach by boaters.
