St. John's north shore is right there across Pillsbury Sound. We were homed at Independant next to Compass Point for a couple of years and would usually go straight for Maho/Francis Bay. Hawksnest, Trunk, and Cinnamon all have their attractions. Cinnamon Bay has a great interpreted walk through the sugar factory ruins across north shore road that is a favorite - lots of bay trees. Trunk Bay is famous and busy after 10AM. From Francis Bay beach, you can walk the Francis Bay salt pond loop trail and see the birds around the salt pond and the Francis Bay great house; it is also a flat walk to Annaberg plantation from there with its interpretation, or you could visit their from Leinster Bay. Leinster Bay has Waterlemon Cay and access to Annaberg Plantation and the Johnny Horn trail; you can do a vigorous hike on the Johnny Horn to Coral Bay and enjoy lunch there before your hike back. It depends on what you are looking for.

If you do St. John clockwise you can pick up ice and anything else you need in Coral Bay, or wait until you swing around to Cruz Bay. I would not miss Cruze Bay, but I would wait until the end of your trip around STJ. Add a night at Magens Bay and a final night at Christmas Cove and you are good to go. The one thing you might miss is visiting Water Island and Honeymoon Beach on your last night if you want to avoid going upwind back to Compass Point.

Cheers, RickG
