Swim towards one and watch it slowly swim away from you. I have seen a video of a goliath grouper grabbing a guys arm. But I sure don't think people are afraid of grouper. It is all psychological. I am sure there is an instance of a barracuda that mistook something shiny on a diver and went for it. It is not a reason to fear them at all. Enjoy them.
