4D4,

We have rented a car every trip since our first one many years back and I always thought I'd never want to be without one, but last April we added a few days to our trip and stayed an extra few nights at Grand Case Beach Club after our two weeks at the Towers and it was the first time we truly could have been just as happy without a car as with one, so my way of thinking is that you could be fine carless in some lications but in others you might find yourself 'stuck' in paradise without one. Our truth is, we drove from Mullet Bay to Grand Case and from the moment we arrived at GCBC until the moment we got in the car to head out to the airport we never used it again. It remained parked the whole time we were at GCBC and we were perfectly content to walk or take the little jitney service to get around at the rare moments we actually wanted to leave GCBC, say for dinner ....

But remember, we had already been on the island for two weeks and had done all our sight-seeing and shopping and at that point we were perfectly happy to sit back and enjoy the time we had left quietly.

It really depends on you and your plans, as well as exactly where on the island you'll be staying. If you're an OB person staying there, or a Maho/Mullet person you'd be fine without wheels, and perhaps a few areas that I'm not as familiar with, but in the end, based on the price you paid for your car, I think you made overall the best decision as long as you're in a location where parking it won't be an issue.
