We booked the United flight out of EWR for Oct 24 with a return on Nov 13. Because we have "make notifications" listed, we found out early about the change. After an hour plus on the telephone, United put us on USAir going down, but we had to return a day later, or spend a night in New York. No recompense for the extra day and hotel, but we do have the United flight leaving Saturday for EWR. Two days ago, USAir notified us of a change from USAir to American, but at least a direct flight from CLT, with no Miami stop. We were able to book an extra day at Beachside Villas, as we found out about the change early. We would not be able to get that extra day booked now as they are full for those dates. Hopefully, United does not change their SXM to EWR flight.
When you are flying from the west coast, the logistics of finding decent connections when your flights are changed is daunting, to say the least.
