I need to follow up on these, so no one else makes the mistake I did! Do NOT use plain pork and beans in this recipe! When I made the complete recipe it came out much too soupy! I ended up having to dissemble this after I had baked it and boil the sauce down to get it thicker. Then I just served it in a bowl. I was disappointed in the end result, but I'm sure it's because I used the wrong beans. I think it you used a Boston-style baked bean it would be better.
