We walked thru the Westin and one table we saw had a $30 minimum a hand. Didn't look at all of them....that would clean us out in one hand.

We like to play but we like low minimums........any info on has cheap Tables is appreciated.

It depends on the season and the time of night, but we have often found $5 blackjack at Hollywood.

A $5 minimum table is available at most casinos on the island that offer blackjack. The former Dolphin Casino (closed for 4 or 5 years and now a liquor store) near Billy Folly Road in Simpson Bay used to have at least one $2 minimum table--a lot of fun for learning how to play. It's too bad that casino couldn't make it. The $5 minimum is the lowest you'll find now. The Princess Casino (our favorite) opens their $5 table first (at least as of last week), and the opens $10 and $25 minimum tables at 8:00 pm. High season procedures are likely different.

We rarely go to Casino Royale, as we seem to never see $5 minimums there..

Carol....almost every night.....even during season....Casino Royal has at least one or two five dollar minimum tables open in the front of the tables.

I know the subject was about blackjack, but the other night at Casino Royale, the auto roulette table had a $1 minimum.

OK, could be, I guess remember one table or so, but whenever we would go in, there would never be any seats available. I refuse to wait around an hour or so for a seat. I'll go somewhere else, that I can go sit down and lose my money and go home!!

The technical name of the game is Electronic Airball Roulette. It is an automated version of roulette, where the wheel spins by a motor and the ball is shot out by air with no human involvement. You place your bets on computer screens surrounding the wheel.

Sorry, yuck! I don't play roulette much any more, even though it is my favorite game, but that doesn't even sound fun to me!! I love watching that wheel spin.

i was shocked when we went to Starz in April....They did a wonderful job remodeling the place...it really is quite nice....but...they took away the tables???? VERY dissapointing. They have lost us now. BUT...did play the tables at Princess for the first time in well over twenty years...and really enjoyed the place. I won't play at Hollywood....havne't for years, since they play blackjack, and the dealer takes ZERO hold cards. Talk about giving a house more benefit.

What I had heard last Feb. was that they were taken for over $200,000.00 shortly before our arrival. They shut down the tables and layed off all the dealers. Many had worked there for years and years. Maybe someone can verify what I heard.

Sorry, not to ask a stupid question but what does "the dealer takes ZERO hold cards", what does that mean? I have a friend who is a VERY serious blackjack player, and regularly plays a LOT of money and he always plays blackjack at Hollywood.

they don't take the second card when dealing themselves...the down card. This way...now...the house never has a black jack on the first hand and kill the play. now...the players will bet, double up...etc....and then the dealer takes their second card. it changes the chute completely.....and gives the house more chance of winning....and the players get suckered into the extra bets...etc. It's a suckers game with one card drawn.

I've played black jack all over....and the only place i have ever seen this type of house rule was at the hollywood casino. This was probably over 20 years ago...and have never returned there. Last I heard they were still playing this way.

Eric says that they still do that. I didn't remember that at all. I kind of doubt they do that on the high dollar tables..

You only lose your original bet if they have blackjack.

And on another note, does anyone remember when $2.00 tables were the norm and $5.00 and $10.00 tables were for the really high rollers? That was my intro to Blackjack in 1973......boy does it hurt to realize how very long ago that was!!

In the old days, I only played roulette, not blackjack. It's been a few years since we've been to Vegas, but there was a ratty casino just down from Harrah's where we played quarter craps and $1 blackjack. Fun times!! I vividly remember playing roulette with quarter chips at Hollywood Casino in SXM though! Building condos on my favorite numbers!!

I heard the same story about Starz from more than one source. A group of people won a lot of money and next day tables were gone.

So, did they put in more slots? Or are the physical tables still there? We haven't been there since they did the reno. Guess we won't get there any time soon. I don't play slots any more. ...talk about the 'old days', I loved playing slots when they really WERE 'one armed bandits', and they spit out actual coins. Pushing a button and getting a piece of paper at the end is no fun to me!

They put walls up around 3 sides that had the tables and they now call it their vip area. There are about 18 slots in there, but not high dollar slots.

I believe you are mistaken. They turn the cards over and leave the bets there.

Ed said that it had been several years since he had been there, so perhaps that was true when he was there last, but not now.

Exactly...not sure what they now....but way back then they did that...and it made me never to return again. I bet it was at least twenty or so years ago. Since then, 99 percent of my bets have been placed at Casino Royale and Atlantis, now Starz. Now that Starz is gone.....i am sure next trip we will be spending more time at the Princess Casino, since we found how good the restaurants were last trip there!!! And also, played a couple of hours at the bj tables, and walked out with a nice profit wink

Ed--You know, you really could possibly just go in and ASK them what their rules are now and give them another try at Hollywood. Just sayin'..
