Any other owners having issues @ Oyster Bay Beach Resort, having rooms assigned and moving each week from bldg to bldg? Just curious....

That seems to be the new way for original owners who have not purchased fixed week. Also original flex weeks now are only good for off season times unless you get really lucky and ask for a week that has not been sold as fixed. Sad.

Next SXM visit -November 2023. Also January 2024.

Ironically we upgraded several years ago to a fixed week & we're being told to move from one bldg to another and then back to another for the 2nd week.

I still think it was a breach of contract by the resort.. we are seriously thinking of moving on from OBBR

Are you talking about your owned week in a designated unit being told you have to go to a different unit? I can understand having to move the 2nd week if you don't own a specific week but not the original.

Sounds like someone was staying in your unit and soft peddled someone to stay in same unit the 2nd week so they wouldn't have to move. I'd demand the unit you own by contract if that's the case. Happened to us once at Divi and we stood our ground and they finally made the other people move to the unit they wanted to put us into. Guess they just caught me on a bad , tired day and I wanted what was mine! Also when we stay 2 weeks we always have to move because we own only 1 week. So I guess I felt if I always have to do it so should someone else.

I was trying to figure this out, too.

It's never happened to us but we own fixed weeks in fixed units and while they are different weeks and we do sometimes have to move from unit to unit, the property has worked with us a few times to put us in similar but unowned units, too. The trade off has been they kept our two bedroom as we were perfectly content to stay in a one bedroom for the whole trip. I'd be very upset if I owned a unit and was told upon arrival it was unavailable because someone else was in it and wouldn't move. It's one thing to willingly cooperate but a whole different ballgame if you aren't agreeable and really want your own week in your own unit.

I agree. We own three consecutive weeks in the same unit at La Vista Beach, and the fact that we don't have to move is the only way I got David to agree to the third week! We did have to move once, when we switched weeks, but for our usual weeks we've never been asked to move. Frankly, if I were asked, I'd refuse.

Really, the people at the Towers make moving very easy, since basically, once you put things back in the luggage, they do it all for you. I'd still prefer not to have to do it in the first place but unfortunately, preconstruction we didn't realize how much we'd love our initial unit. And once we knew, the unit was already sold on either side of us and it's never become available.

If I'm not mistaken as to how flex and points work (and I might well be......), this has always been my concern about the concepts, in which othat I always wondered what would happen if everyone wanted the same weeks. Seems like someone might just end up unhappy. I know there are benefits to points that weeks owners don't have but in the end, I'm thinking I'm glad we weren't made to go that route. The internal exchange option has always worked for us.

I hope the OBBR people are able to work it all out to their personal enjoyment.
