I'll try to give you the short version but : back in 2003 My wife and I along with another couple had headed down from new Hampshire . we got stuck on the tarmac in pa. for 5 hours and as a result we never even landed in st Thomas until 10:30 or 11:00 pm . we had made a few calls while on the plane and when we got to st Thomas there was a ferry boat waiting for us and they took us 4 plus two ther couples to sopers hole at 11:30 pm . they called ahead for us and made sure there was someone to open up the customs house in sopers as well as a cab to take us to purple pineapple. When we got off the ferry boat the owner had piloted the boat and I am trying to remember her name . all I remember is it was ann . I don't remember but two names come to mind Richards and harris but I know the owners first name was anne . by the end of the trip I was at death's door and when I got home they rushed me in for an organ transplant . I obviously made it but this coming January will be my first trip back . when we got off the ferry boat in the west end I told the owner that I owed her a crate of maine lobsters and I'd like to fulfill that promise ..sure I am a bit late but .... so any help would be greatly appreciated who was that owner skipper? thanks to you all

Mike, I don't suppose that trip involved a bring your own jam session in Little Harbour with Barry (who was on an Island Gypsy as I recall) and some boys from Texas on a cat named Calypso Queen?

If the answer is yes.....the boys from Texas said hello!

Q: What do you do all day when down island?...

A: I don't really know, but it takes all day to do it...

Based on my experience with the ferry companies, this might be a question better put to Rod Sterling. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

That is a great story and Thank You! for sharing. Before you recommit that that wonderful promise you may want to look into the details of shipping live marine animals to St. Thomas and the VI's. It could entail more than most would think. Maybe the Mod's should consider a poll to guess the cost of (1) One "crate of maine lobsters" delivered to somewhere in the VI.

Yes,El Capitan, it was me and my buddy Chris who met up with Jeff "almost famous" Coursey at Monday night in the bight !!
After that week I went home and spent the next 18 months trying to stay alive long enough to get a kidney transplant ..obviously I made it but this coming January Will be my first trip back since 2003 . it looks like we mmay stay at Toad hall for jabuary 14th or 15th for 7 days... Love to see my old friends down there ..Yes ,I will do a bit of research into the transport of $400 worth of lobsters down to that temperature when they need to stay around 45 degrees F
Say hi to everyone including captain Barry .I still wear the hat he had made for that trip
