July 19 – After a hearty breakfast of homemade biscuits and gravy (totally worth the effort) we set out to explore more beach bars, starting at Big Bamboo, then on to Flash of Beauty, and finally Anegada Beach Club, where we had a late lunch. I tried the lobster BLT…not bad! We lingered over a few drinks after lunch, enjoying the shade and the breeze.

After lunch we strolled down to the beach which was nicely deserted and had just the right number of empty loungers, placed perfectly in the shade. So, what else were we to do? We took a nap! It was probably the most glorious nap I’ve had in recent memory. A nice sea breeze, the perfect temperature….ah!

Dinner tonight was aboard Island Fun. The guys grilled up some steaks and I made a truffle mushroom risotto. We enjoyed a nice, relaxing evening watching the sunset, and then more loud music from Potter’s to serenade us into the wee hours.

July 20 – After a leisurely breakfast we set sail for Scrub Island, where we had a slip reserved. During our sail, it was decided that we would forego our slip at Scrub if we could pick up a ball on the outside of Marina Cay’s mooring field. The reason being, we felt it was stifling hot at Leverick in the slip we had there due to the larger boats surrounding us and the absence of A/C on Island Fun. Wind scoops help, but only if there’s a breeze, and none of us was up for another sweaty night. We were fortunate enough to pick up a perfectly located ball at Marina Cay.

The guys made an ice and water run, while I cooked up some fish tacos for lunch. Then we had a lazy afternoon on board, visiting, relaxing, and tidying up a bit.

After an on-board happy hour, we dingied over to Marina Cay for the requisite photo booth pictures, and then dinner. Service was excellent and the food was good. Seems like I recall the service not being so great here in the past, so I was impressed by the server being so attentive and pleasant.

July 21 – After a beautiful sunrise and breakfast, we headed off to Lee Bay on Guana Island, where we got to test out our anchoring skills. It was actually a great place to anchor, and we were set with no issues whatsoever. Once we were settled in, I loaded up my camera into a dry bag and snorkeled my way over to the adorable little beach there, where I spent some time taking pictures, enjoying the peace, quiet and beauty of it all.

Back to the boat where we grilled up some Italian sausages with peppers and onions for lunch. Then Tammy and I once again tethered ourselves to the boat and commenced to drinking and floating – this never gets old. As evening approached, I cooked up some linguine Bolognese for dinner.

While were relaxing after dinner, we watched the unexpected invasion of the Puerto Rican Navy into our quiet little slice of heaven. Not to worry, however. They were probably more peaceful and quiet than we were. As I recall this was one of the evenings we sat up on the trampoline talking and laughing for a good while after dark. There was a nice breeze on this night and we slept great. I think this the beginning of the stretch of 4 nights or so we didn’t have a middle-of-the-night-close-all-the-hatches drill for rain. Lee Bay is definitely on our “favorites” list.

July 22 – Quiet morning coffee, quick breakfast and off to Cane Garden Bay. We stopped for water and ice first, and then grabbed a ball. It was time for laundry again, so we set off in search of the laundromat, started our wash and headed to Quito’s for lunch and cold beers.

After laundry and back to the boat, Tammy & Bill opted to stay on board, while Allan and I headed back to the beach. I need my beach time! We hung out in some of Myett’s loungers and had a few rum drinks, swam a little, talked, and relaxed. A perfect beach day!

We did happy hour aboard Island fun – baked brie with jam and crackers. We had decide to go back to Quito’s for dinner because of the music they had scheduled. Their menu is nothing special, but decent food and good enough service.

I think we were more entertained by a couple of local gals, vying for the attention of a local guy, who was clearly enjoying the whole scene. One of the ladies got her heel stuck in the floor and it was all we could do not to laugh too loudly. We had bets on which one he took home that night, but we will never know.

July 23 – Coffee, breakfast and off to do some sailing! I wanted to practice tacking, since all of our sailing this trip had been pretty much a straight shot to where we were going. So we practiced for a while, until I felt I’d had enough, and then set off for Diamond Cay, where we picked up a ball.

I had all but promised Tammy she would see turtles here, so I kept my fingers crossed. Sure enough the turtles did not disappoint. We all snorkeled for a while and got some video footage of the turtles. That made Tammy’s day!

During the last few days I had talked up Jewel’s hot dogs so much, all four of us were ready for one, with the requisite rum punch. We loaded up in the dinghy and made the short walk, only to discover Jewel wasn’t there. Broken-hearted (that might be a bit dramatic) we headed to Taboo for a light lunch and some drinks there. Service is always good here, as well as the food. We made dinner reservations, as I had already cooked all the dinners I planned on cooking, and Taboo is the only game in town on this end of Jost.

We moved over to B-Line for an afternoon of games, drinking, and photography. I found so much to shoot there! Lots of hidden gems – would be a great place to shoot some portraits.

Later, after dinner at Taboo, Allan took me back over to B-Line to do some night sky photography. I was having trouble with some settings, we were both getting tired, and it was becoming apparent I wasn’t going to get the shots I had been dreaming of, so we headed back to the boat for another drink, and off to bed. I’ll get those shots some other time.
