Asking for help please TTOLers. My wife and I have been invited over to SXM on the 26th/27th and 28th August to help Presidente on their 1st Annual Poker Run. The start and finish is at Port de Plesence, any good recommendations of hotels very nearby?

Huhm, that's a tough one. From there, going right toward Simpson Bay you'd probably be in some traffic and going left to the french side, you'd have to go through the traffic at Marigot. Since it's right by the causeway, probably I would say to try somewhere in Maho, maybe Royal Islander. Or again, go across the causeway, and make a left and go to Mary's Boon. Shouldn't be a lot of traffic, going that way.

Hi Nick. Got your email reply. Not sure why you can't post in response, as that makes no sense..

If you're looking for someplace NICE, that will be kind of tough to get, close to PDP. I assume that PDP itself is all booked up with people participating in the Poker Run? Regardless, PDP can't really be considered very nice..

We will be on the island for the dates you listed. Is this something that is open to the public? If so, could you please give me the details? <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />

I actually think it's more for participants, than an event for spectators, but you can check out the website here.. http://www.presidentesxmpokerrun.com/

Nick has found his lodging, but wanted to alert anyone on island on these dates that you may want to avoid Dreams, Friar's Bay Beach Club and Kontiki on Sunday the 28th, as those are the stops for the Poker Run, so those places will probably be SLAMMED on that date.
