Invitation to St Martin by Presidente to help with their 1 st Annual Poker Run.

Monica and I were booked on the 9pm Liat to SXM, would you believe we left at 8.15pm arriving just before 9pm last Friday night, Liat you rock…………..

Picked up in SXM by Javier who is my marketer from Puerto Rico and headed straight for Port de Pleasance. It’s a huge area and Javi decided with Presidente, the event must be held on the waterfront. Anyway, that’s tomorrow he said, now we feed and drink you both at the onsite casino. Did he just , after meeting the beer dignitary’s, sat down and I had the best salmon I have ever had. After dinner the girlie girls came out on stage and did a magnificent floor show. I tell you everybody, we were being spoilt rotten. Anyway, time for some shut eye at the Simpson Bay Resort, which wasn’t too shabby either???

Up early in the morning to catch our chauffeur heading back to PDP. The stage guys were already there, erecting a tent for Monz and I to put up the cards and another huge one coving the fountain for the bands and more floor shows. We were in charge of decorating the complete area with banners, and Presidente “stuff” and of course having the occasional beer just to keep things rolling?

Where the morning went I don’t know, but suddenly we were thrown into another van and were instruct ted to enjoy ourselves at another event Presidente had arranged at Buccaneer bar. Gosh this socializing never stops. What a time more good food, more good music and gosh more pretty girlie girls.

Just as though my eyes couldn’t get any bigger, I had a call from home (BVI’s) to say the boats from the BVI’ had just passed under the bridge and can we meet them back at PDP. We were poured back in the van and were just in time to welcome the guys. It took them 2 ˝ hrs from Tortola, fortunately the seas were flat calm. OK guys, the welcomes behind us meet you all back at Buccaneer. It was a super day we even met the American Ambassador, Lloyd, what a man, backing everything we did throughout the whole weekend. Headed back to our cozy room early ready for the extravaganza tomorrow.

The BIG day has arrived, up at 6am, and back at PDP by 6.30am. The volunteers started to filter in, so set up a meet to tell them what to do. Basically the boats visit 5 stops and pick up a card at each stop, they get back to us and grab a wild card, and the highest Poker hand wins. The National Parks had stopped us going round the corner to Orient and Kontiki for the 3rd stop, so we opted to go round Tintemare, all worked well. In the end we had 25 boats in total with a total of 52 hands bought. Monies went to charity which is super, can you believe Monzie and I have been doing ours for 15 years now and raised nearly $100.000, tis a good feeling. After the prizing giving we were hoping on enjoying the entertainment, unfortunately we didn’t last long and crashed early.

All in all it was a super event which we were blessed to be a part of, thank you Presidente for hosting, thank you St Martin for being you special self, thank you Javy of JL Marketing, and thank you Monz for putting up with me when the stress of it all kicked in
