Some sad news from Canada. Jolyon Ditton, who spent many years in the BVI as a captain on many different vessels, was in Canada for the summer months, as he did for many years. He fell off a boat on Tuesday evening and hit his head, rendering him unconscious before he fell into the water. He was underwater for about 10 minutes before he was pulled out, but unfortunately irreversible brain damage had occurred. Jolyon had a living will where he specified that he did not wish to be placed on life support and Friday morning he was removed from life support and passed away peacefully just shortly thereafter. At least he was able to celebrate his mother's 100th birthday in March of this year (although she unfortunately passed away in May), and he was on a boat, on a dock to the very end. R.I.P. Jolyon. I do hope that you and your mom are looking down upon us all with smiles on your faces. Sail on!

I remember picking him up and giving him a ride when he first arrived in Tortola and was living at Neil Perks house in Josiah's Bay. RIP.
