Unless I'm missing something, all the small power boats for charter in both the USVI and BVI appear to have been pulled.

At one time, Trawlers in Paradise in the Lagoon on St. Thomas (Tom and Denise McCoy) had a number of ancient warriors available for charter. Now gone. CYOA also on St. Thomas had a few power boats too; all gone?

TMM Tortola had two Heritage 36s now apparently gone.

North-South had a few ancient Taiwanese trawlers for charter, now gone.

All I see is a Moorings 37 Cat.

Can anyone offer additional information about the power charter situation. Not interested in large boats at $10k per week. Just a mellow 9 knot trawler with airco/genset and a windlass.

Don't charter anywhere a 37 power cat, not enough beam to make your trip comfortable.

Footloose has 39 foot power cats for charter in the BVI.

I think monos are pretty comfortable. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

They haven't been pulled, sadly, they just aged out of the various fleets and no power boaters have purchased new yachts to put in charter.

It's a cyclical thing. Anyone who buys a new motor yacht to put in charter these days is guaranteed healthy bookings. There just aren't many around and there never were enough to go around even when there were a few.

MarineMax has mostly power cats. The 382 has a lot of amenities, but the small beam can make it a little rocky for a cat. I have chartered one.

Would that boat be any worse than a 12 1/2 foot beam monohull trawler?

It would be much better. The footloose 39 has a 20 foot beam.

Narrow? The beam is 14'8? Or just a top heavy cork on the water.....

Hanging that dinghy up in the sky cannot help the center of gravity and motion.

If you're looking for a power mono, try Virgin Motor Yachts in Nanny Cay. Their smallest however is a 48' Horizon. We chartered one last spring and really liked it. The 48's are dated, but the space and layout was great for 3 couples.
