Hi all, I'll bet everybody thought I gave up because this is so late. No just typed it all up went to send it in and I got an error message saying my form was not accepted hit back button. When I did nothing was there and I said well I just spent short of a half hour typing I'm just going out.
Well the day started out at the pool, sun shining brightly overhead and no clouds overhead. Spent a couple hours there went in for a sandwich for lunch and then back out again. The clouds had finally hidden the sun and did for most of the afternoon. We even had about 50 raindrops or so. Even without the sun I think over the first 4 days I've gotten a little too much sun. I was tired and had some burn on my shoulders and neck and my forehead and nose. Not terrible but it hurt a bit. I was going to stay in tonight and did. But four of our group did go to Valentino's. Now for those who have never been Valentino's is a movie lovers paradise. The walls are lined with b/w pictures of movie stars of days gone by. They also have 2 TVs that are showing old b/w movie clips. Their waitress for the night was a tiny girl from Argentina. And if you been there you know everything there is large, dishes, silverware just everything. Well the pepper mill was almost as big as this girl. But she was really good at her job.
The only appetizer I got a report on was the lobster bisque. It was different than the usual as they said it was more red than normal. But one of the 2 who had said it was pretty good. The Princess(as she calls herself) had veal scallopini with lemon capers. She said it was wonderful as was the veal scallopini w/ sage. Both ladies like it. One of them had a fish entree called Basso something or other they thought. Well it was the hit of the night as the one who had it cleaned his plate. And this is someone who almost never cleans his plate and he raved at how good it was when I was getting their report. The tuna entree was reported as good. Dessert was profiterols, which everyone had and they all agreed while they were good they didn't rank with the best they had ever had. All the drinks were OK and there is an extensive wine and drink list with wine available by glass or bottle. This is not a cheap restaurant as the veal entrees were $36 with the others in the same range.
About the time they finished their meals Jimbo, the owner, came in. He sat down at their table with them for a few minutes. Jimbo, for those who don't know him is, as the Princess so proudly told me is a "STONE COLD FOX". He has a new girlfriend and life is good. He did say business was down last year around 25% but appears to be coming back to life. For those who don't know he also owns Jimbo's a few doors down the road. Make reservations here as it is not a real large venue.
After dinner a quick trip to the Red Piano was in order. They had a few drinks and say Jeff(they think?) the piano player from Australia was really good. He was playing lots of older rock and roll, which us older folk love. So all in all they had a pretty good night. Tomorrow night we probably will be going to the Hollywood Cafe. We've got a few new members of the group coming in today Friday. Talk to you all tomorrow. And thanks for all the nice remarks.
