I'm going to skip my day at the pool in the sun and go right to our evening.
Well it's getting to be a bit repetitive but we've found another Very Good restaurant. It appears that a lot of the new restaurants opening here on the island are actually making an effort to appeal to their customers. Tonight 8 of us dined at the Hollywod Cafe which is right next to the Hollywood Casino at Pelican Resort. It is actually run by the same people. Only one of the group had ever eaten there before and she had liked it very much on opening week last January. No one tried this but there is a special $50 for your whole meal and free drinks. You get to pick your meal setup from 3 apps, 3 entees & 3 deserts. A funny thing happened when only 1 of us wanted an appetizer. It was lobster bisque and was the gentleman who had it last night at Valentino's. He said this was much better as he was not overly pleased with last nights. Good start. For entrees I had the Mahi-Mahi with vegetables as did another of us. We were both pleased with it. It came with a unique presentation of the lemon. Two of our group had the Filet of Beef which was superb. It came with baked potatoes cut into small squares and 3 dipping sauces, mushroom, marinara and gorgonzola, which were all quite nice. I got to get a nice slice of the filet and dipped all three liking the mushroom the best. Two others had the lasagna. They both like it but one would have like less cheese the other more sauce. Differences of opinion are always interesting as there final responses were that they enjoyed their meal. One of our group(one of the Patriots fans who arrived today) had the Osso Bucco. She loved it saying it was really tender and quite tasty. And finally our last at the table had the Beef Carpachio(an appetizer) for his entree because he was feeling a bit under the weather. Now I must add the the eye appeal of all the meals was exquisite. All looked like artist canvases. Its always nice when you smile before you even take a bite. Now it was time for desert. The desert menu is to die for. And everyone's desert was GRAND. With my desert I ordered a banana smoothie. Oh was that good. Didn't really need a desert as it was as good as having one. But I had the strawberry cheese cake. As I have already admitted a couple of days ago I'm a cheese cake fanatic. This was really good and different. I can't give it enough credit explaining it here you just have to eat it to experience how good it is. The Rasberry Sorbet was outstanding. "Oh my god I loved it" was the immediate response and, "I'd love some right now" was the response as I type this. As tasty as any you'll find anywhere. The trio of panna cotta was really nice. It came with espresso, vanilla bean and strawberry. I got a small taste of the strawberry and it was really nice. The meal was topped off with nice small glasses of Lemonchello and OrangeChello(?). All in all this was an outstanding experience. I suggest all to give this great new restaurant a try. I neglected to say the cocktails before dinner were excellent. They have a super mixologist working here who deserves kudos for her work. Her Martini's were as good as any New York bar. All in all the Hollywood Cafe gets a solid five out five from our whole group tonight.
Oh and I forgot there is one extra you get here and that is you go out the door make a right 10 feet and walk into the Hollywood Casino. We did last night and I don't know how anyone else did but I walked out with the same amount of money I walked in with. Not bad for an hour of entertainment.
