My favorite cocktail… “The Last Word”

One part gin
One part lime juice
One part green Chartreuse
One part maraschino liqueur

Preparation: Shake with ice and strain into a cocktail glass.
Served: Straight up; without ice

Albeit tonight I think it should be called “Thank Goodness”

[Linked Image]

The cocktail has a great back story... google it when you can - it is part of Americana

Pretty cool, I read the Wikapikia version (fitting I thought). We used to call Green Chartruse, Green Death back in the day. Anything made by Benedictine Monks is Bad a**.
Do you get to Canlis in Seattle at all. I think that is in my top five restaurants ever and I have been searching great for food for 40+ years now.

LOL - we always called it Green Dragon! It has been a family favorite passed down from my Grandmother. Never found a cocktail I liked with it until this one.

Small point of clarification - It is the Carthusian monks found by St Bruno not the Benedictines. The Carthusian order is much more mellow that the Benedictines. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Wink.gif" alt="" /> Still today only three monks know the recipe. An internet friend who runs a food blog featured the drink a while back ago. Much nice pictures than mine.
Check it out: The Last Word

I have never been to Seattle, but it is a city on my must list. Food and wine (and sometimes photography) are my favorite things to do. I will have to check out Canlis when I make it to Seattle.

I read on linewhere it was concocted at Bar Zig Zag in Seattle as a rebirth. I thought you may have been there.
Somewhere in the back of the brain I remember Carthusian Monks. Late night posting lends to no fact checking. Always liked the green could never do the yellow.
