Trying to put together a budget for additional costs for our upcoming charter. We will be on a Saba 50 out of TMM. What are the going rates for mooring balls and or docking fees.How much water and fuel can we expect to use. There will be 13 adults on board and we do plan on going to Anegada.
Where would be the best and cheapest place to refuel prior to returning to the dock.

Hard to make an apples to apples comparison, but we were 5 people on a Lagoon 40 out of TMM last year for a week.
Mooring balls were $30-35/night.
We used $236 in fuel for the week.
Filled with water in Cane Garden Bay - $12 (don't really know how much that bought us) and filled with water for free at Leverick (water is complimentary when you reserve a slip - slip is only a few $ more than a mooring ball - highly recommend a slip)
Dont know about cheapest, but easiest place to fill with fuel before returning to TMM is the Delta fuel dock in Road Town. It's on the right side of the bay as you're heading in. It opens at 7:30 am I believe.

I always find it funny, you charter a $10,000 boat and are concerned about a $30 mooring ball. Your fuel consumption would be based on how much you motor or sail. Your generator will probably burn more fuel then your engine if you like air conditioning. Dock space will run between $50-$100 plus water and electric.

I think we had the conversation one other time. I live in the Landen area. Our crew is made up of Moeller fathers and sons.

With 13 persons in board you will use a lot of water. Saba water tankage is only 185 gallons, which we go thru in <2.5 days with 4 couples on our Saba 50 Cuvée though we have freshwater flush electric heads and watermaker. I'm surprised there isn't a watermaker onboard your 6-cabin boat.

The genset burns 3/4 gph with all A/C units on, and 1/4 gph just charging batteries but you want to load up the genset with at least a couple A/C units.

One engine at 1800 rpm burns 1 gph and will drive you at 6 kts; 2300 rpm burns 2 gph and will get you to 7.4 kts. Running both engines doubles the fuel burn and adds 0.8 kts to the above speeds. Other than while manuevering or heading into heavy seas, I'll motor with one engine at 1800-2300 rpm to reduce engine hours, fuel consumption, and cockpit noise.

Fuel tankage is 124 gallons each in stb and port tanks. Genset is fed from stb tank. I just did a 2 week, 425 nautical mile trip with light winds, humid evenings and visits to Anguilla and Culebra - used 133 gallons (40 gal per engine, 53 for genset).

I always refueled at Delta Petroleum on east side of Roadtown harbor the last morning before returning to TMM.

I'm guessing the cheapest place to refuel would be on St Thomas, if your travels took you outside the BVI.

Dockage rates vary widely. Electricity is extra. Running genset at dock is frowned upon.

Best deal is Leverick Bay - $35 plus ice and water.

Peter Island will be $125 (can't recall if they added a service charge).

Scrub Island will be $2, $3, or $6 per foot (depending on season) plus 17% service.

Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbor is $2.5~$3/ft as I recall.

BEYC is $2/ft up to 49'.

The Saba 50 is 49.2' long.

Mooring balls are $30 throughout, except $35 at BEYC, $65 at Peter Island, $26 at St John, USVI ($13 with the Golden Age pass), free at Christmas Cove, USVI.

Plenty of places to anchor for free in BVI if you have adequate ground tackle.

Interesting...they charged us only $30 during the Cat Fight and we were moored next to you.

Baard, its happened before. It was noted as $40 on the receipt. Might be the kids skimming, who knows.

On our Lagoon 42 for 2 weeks, we burned 110 gallons. Ran get at least 12-14 hours a day and winds were light so motored or motored-sailedmorethan I like. Delta fuel was about 3,35 a gallon IIRC. Moorings $30 a night except BEYC.

Leverick is wonderful with free water fill and a bagofice if moored or docked. I believe our dockage was $35-40 with $20 additional for shore power. Would plan water every 2-3 days depending on how frugal...and how many bodies.

Bigger expenses likely eating/drinking out.

Kitty suggest $250-300 per person to include groceries (and we often buy some dinner with kitty if eating habits same) as well as taxi fees/ boat beer/liquor. Then divide left over $ at end of trip... I prefer not to have to add to kitty.

Many ways to do it (If some are not drinkers, would not include alcohol in kitty expenses.

I also have a group chartering Boomerang from TMM in Feb so great to get all this info,, our group is 3 couples plus the captain.
