In just a few short weeks we are flying from O'hare-San Juan- Beef Island.

Do you know if we will be able to purchase duty free liquor in San Juan during our layover on the way to Beef Island? If so, what is the limit of bottles per person?

Thanks!

A few years ago, we chartered two boats. The "younger crew" purchased ~ $200 worth of ETOH at the SJU airport to take on the American Eagle flight to EIS. It was the last flight of the night. We flew over to EIS and caught a thunder shower/storm. The pilot made one pass at the runway / thought better of it / headed back to the SJU. We arrived at SJU after 10:00 pm. AA offered everyone a room at the Airport hotel with an early am departure the next day. Now, the younger crew had a decision to make. Leave security and forfeit being able to get back through with their ETOH. Spend the night on the floor inside of security. Or option three, try to hide the stuff in the airport and retrieve it the next morning. They chose option three. In the terms of Indiana Jones, "they did not choose wisely." Some night worker, made out like a bandit.

If you type ETOH in google it will tell you that it means alcohol.

Since they apparently repealed the liquor tax or postponed it in the BVI and they do want you to declare imports and pay duty on imported alcohol..last thing I would do is buy liquor going down...indeed is like taking ice to Eskimos and creates a customs hassle .

To answer your question.
Pretty sure, if you show your ticket to Beef, you can purchase on the way down ( 6 bottles), but as others have said, better to wait for your return trip.

That is unless you are looking for Ron del Barrilito, which can only be purchased in PR and at duty free. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" />
