Yesterday was a quiet Sunday spent chillin' mostly here at the Towers.

We awoke a little on the late side for us and by the time we had our coffee and debated the days activities it was too late to go for breakfast. The skies are a little on the cloudy side and the weather forecast says it's going to be this way most of the day so we decided to make it a pool day.

As we were heading to the elevator we had the privilege of meeting our (almost) next door Towers neighbors, and fellow owners here, as well as members of TTOL. I knew they would be here this week for the start of their long annual visit and had just sent them a note about seeing them at the pool.

We camped out most of the day there, and of all the things to try for lunch we had hot dogs and fries at the bar. The pool bar has very limited offerings but they were quite good and well out of the range of typical lunch time fare here on the island.

Our friends met us here at 5:30 and for the gentleman we came to surprise it was almost like a homecoming for him. He was a very early villa owner at Mullet Bay Resort and had also stayed with us once here at the Towers the year it opened. As he stood on our balcony overlooking the lagoon and the golf course he commented about his many years as a Mullet Bay owner and all his good memories and before you knew it, we all had tears in our eyes reminiscing about things from back in the day in 'old St. Maarten' as we knew it then.

Enough of that, off to a very nice dinner at FIG. We parked in the underground garage beneath the Market and took the elevator up to the restaurant to save our friend some walking but had a bit of confusion in doing so. We hopped out of the elevator on the second floor and to our surprise, there was no FIG. Got back in and went to the third floor and again, no FIG. We ultimately realized it was on what we thought of as the second floor but they don't consider the lobby in their numbering so in reality, FIG is on the first floor of the RI LaTerrasse property.

We were warmly welcomed back and had a very enjoyable dinner. Excellent Caesar Salads and various entrees and all were quite good. But I have to say, the best part of the evening was enjoying the great memories of forty-three island years for us and what we hadn't realized was our dear friends 80th trip here so it was a perfect time for our surprise. We all shared great memories of the resort and all it's idiosyncrasies as well as memories of various staff members we had each known over the years. And how could we each not reminisce over our kids growing up here and spending so many vacations in St. Maarten? It was a great evening.

And now it's seven am, the sun has finally broken over the French hillside and is streaming into our apartment. Time to make the coffee and get into our day. And it looks like a glorious beach day is in the offing?.......

Respectfully,

pat

Thanks for the updates! I remember being confused about which floor Fig was on also. Were they busy?

Enjoy your day and thanks for clearing the Fig location up for us. We too couldn't find it when we used the elevators so the security guard took us. Only to find out we were a few days early as they were still closed for dinner during the first part of our trip. By the time they reopened for dinner we had other plans which precluded us from fitting them in for a meal. There's always the next trip.

There was a sign that said Fig and Bananas.
At first we thought they changed their name---are there two separate restaurants at that location??

I think that has been their name for a while now, Fig and Bananas.

I wonder why they changed it. I was told that FIG stood for Food Is Good. Not sure how Bananas fits into that, lol.

All sounds good. It's always neat to meet and talk with fellow TTOL members that one hadn't previously met.

i think the owner told us Fig referred to the restaurant/food concept of the place and Bananas more to the bar/lounge/drinking concept
