We usually fly out of Philadelphia, but the fares for USAirways were very high, so we decided to go with Continental and saved at least $600. We spent Saturday night 5/29 at the Wyndham Garden Hotel at Newark and on Sunday took the 5 a.m. shuttle to P-4 and then took the Airtrain to Terminal C. We arrived with plenty of time to spare for our 7:50 flight.

The flight arrived on time and before the crowds, so we went quickly through immigration and not too bad a wait for luggage. Met Mickey from Tropical-Tropicana and got our green Getz for the week. We picked up our phone from Sharon on the way to the office to sign car rental papers. When we arrived at the Royal Islander LaPlage our room was ready. We got an excellent deal for the room through Ray and it worked out great as always.

Our daytime activities are much the same every trip. I stick around the Royal Islander, read a lot, and swim laps in the pool. I also get spa treatments – 5 massages, a body scrub and a facial – at the The Good Life Spa in the Sonesta hotel. That is my idea of heaven! Walt walks the beaches, reads, and pops in every few hours to cool off, eat, and see if I want to do anything. That is his idea of heaven! After 46 years of a happy marriage, we both get what we want!!

All of our dinners were great. They ranged from around $85 to $120 before tips, with the higher priced ones including dessert.

Sunday night we ate at Spiga. Walt had the Lobster Ravioli for an appetizer and then a Shrimp and Scallop dish. I had the Rack of Lamb. We shared a Vanilla Duo for dessert.
Lara said they were closing for vacation in August and September.

Monday night we ate at LaGondola. Walt had the Lobster in Puffed Pastry and Chicken Marsala. I had Linguine with Vegetables. They are closing in September for vacation.

Tuesday we went to Peg Leg Pub. Walt had Shrimp Cocktail and we both had Filet Mignon and a side salad. Shawn said they were closing in September or vacation.

Wednesday was Moulin Fou. Walt had French Onion Soup and we both had Dover Sole. Yummy! I think they said they were also closing in September for vacation.

Thursday we ate at Pineapple Pete’s. We both had the Pineapple-Shrimp Cocktail. Walt had the Lobster Thermidor and I had Penne Marinara. They do not anticipate closing for vacation this year.

Friday we went to Granduca. We each had a Mediterranean salad. Walt had Red Snapper and I had Linguine with Clams. We both had the Orange Tiramisu for dessert. The staff will rotate their vacations, so the restaurant will not be closed for vacation.

Saturday we went to Fuzion. We both had the Lobster Salad (which was spicier than in March) and Walt had some kind of Shrimp and I had the King Crab Legs appetizer for an entrée.

We will definitely be returning to all of these restaurants during future trips.

Most evenings we were at the Casino Royale for at least a little while. Walt lost a little at Blackjack and I came out ahead $50 on the slots. We watched the Flyers games on Wednesday and Friday nights at the Casino. The weather was somewhat overcast during most of the week, but there was no rain and we found it very pleasant.

Sunday we had a good flight back to Newark – a little turbulence close to Newark, but not too bad. We’re looking forward to our next trip – September 4th.
