Friday, May 28.…Day 15. Last full day on the island. Breakfast in and off to run some errands in Phillipsburg. Packing up and getting ready to head home tomorrow. Weather doesn’t look so great this morning, but by afternoon the sun was peeking through. Took the bus into Pburg through Pelican, it’s free, but the man running it takes you into his jewelry stores. No biggie, free beer/soda/water. It’s a good trip, you don’t have to worry about parking and I think it’s for about 3 hours, which to me is long enough. Visited the chocolate shop down Old Street (?). OMG what great candy! Bought a small package to bring back to the unit for snacking. Plus they gave some samples to try while you are there….some of the best candy I’ve ever had. Only one cruise ship in town, so not too crowded. Ended up getting hubby a new watch at AMA, so it was a profitable trip for him. Back to Pelican for a lunch at Ciao (greek salad, mozzarella Panini and water) $27 w/o tip. Service was so slow. There were only 3 other tables with people eating. I hate to say it, but I make a better Panini. The bread was warm, but the mozzarella wasn’t even melted, but it filled the void. Out to visit Alan at the “B” pool to collect the 3 free beers we won on Jimmy Buffett night. Went to 3Palms tonite because we also won a free entrée so figured why not. Heard it was a great place to have dinner. They bring you out hummus, 2 mini-cheeseburgers to whet your appetite. We were in the mood for steak, so we both ordered the filet. We split the St. Maarten salad. I can’t say enough about the food and the presentation….it was incredible. Hubby had a glass of wine and we split a bottle of water. Total came to $62 not including the free entrée and service charge. If you haven’t been to 3 Palms, you don’t know what you’re missing. It was a great way to end the vacation.

Did the early checkout at Pelican--Made a donation at the Hollywood Casino and called it a night…back to the unit to pack.

Saturday, May 29.…Last Day. Woke up to blue skies and sunshine….and no water in our building. What the??? Called the front desk to let them know; they were not aware. Water out for a good hour, but finally back on so hurried in for a shower. Looked out the window, it’s pitch black and pouring, but doesn’t last more than 5 min. Breakfast in the unit, then heading out to pack the car and do the baggage drop at the airport and off to fill up the gas tank and BBB for a last burger. On the way back to the airport to drop off rental, it's pouring, thundering, lightning, like a hurricane!!! USAir is delayed coming into SXM by an hour, we finally take off at 3:30 and have no chance of making our connection in CLT. Smooth flight, but I wish the flight attendants would stop hawking their credit card--captive audience, no where to go. Arrive in CLT, head to baggage claim. Bags took forever to come out. Off to the USAir service area to rebook our flight we missed, now we’re on the 10 p.m. flight home. Flight is bumpy into BDL, land and get car and head home arriving at 1:30 a.m. Long day. Can’t wait for our next trip, whenever that may be.
